Jovia was in an accident in June 2023, her legs were severely broken. Her mother could only afford to take her to a local village clinic where she was mis-diagonised. She came to our medical camp in July and the doctors immediately recommended her for surgery at the referral hospital in the city. It's because of all the fundraising volunteers who came for medical camp did we were able to take Jovia for surgery and recovery through physical therapy. She is now walking again and has no permanant damage.
Jovia is just one of over 1,400 patients that was treated at Empower a Child's 10th annual medical camp in summer of 2023. Every year we hold a medical outreach for the village of Zirobwe, Uganda and surrounding villages. Community members come from as far as 20 kilometers just to receive medical and dental treatment free of charge. For most patients we serve this is the only time of year they will see doctor or dentist.
This is our largest medical outreach of the year and patients receive not only physical healing, but spiritual healing and knowledge of the love Jesus Christ has for each of them individually.
